미얀마 군부는 무력진압을 중단하고, 즉각 물러나라!
미얀마 군부가 작년 11월 총선 결과를 부정하며 쿠데타를 일으켜 정권을 장악한 이후, 미얀마 노동조합의 총파업과 민중들의 불복종 운동이 한 달을 넘기고 있다.
쿠데타 직후 의사와 의료 노동자, 공무원, 철도, 은행, 제조업 노동자들이 불복종 운동을 시작하였고, 미얀마 노총(Confederation of Trade Unions of Myanmar, CTUM)은 총파업에 돌입하였다.
이에 미얀마 군부는 노동자들의 파업 참가를 저지하기 위해, 경찰과 군대를 동원하여, 노동조합 간부들을 체포하고, 공단 지역 노동자 기숙사와 숙소를 수색하며 탄압하고 있다.
또한 군부 쿠데타 불복종 운동이 전 사회로 확대되자 군부는 이들을 무력으로 억압하고 있다. 군부는 최루탄 고무탄, 실탄까지 동원하여 시위를 진압하고 있고 불복종 운동에 참여한 공무원들을 해임하고 시위 참가자들을 체포·구금하고 있다. 이미 미얀마 군경에 의해 수십 명의 사람들이 목숨을 잃었고, 수천 명이 구금되었다.
우리 노동조합은 미얀마 노총이 1월 29일 발표한 성명 "2020년 총선결과를 인정하며 이에 따라 새 정부가 구성되어야 한다", "선거로 표출된 다수 국민의 열망을 거스르는 어떠한 시도도 반대한다"는 입장을 지지한다.
팔에 이름과 전화번호, 혈액형을 쓰고 시위에 나가는 미얀마 청년들에게 세손가락을 들어 연대와 경의를 표한다.
1980년의 광주와 1987년 항쟁과 노동자 대투쟁의 역사를 살아온 우리는 민주주의에 대한 민중의 열망을 막으려는 어떠한 무력도 성공할 수 없다는 사실을 잘 알고 있기에, 미얀마의 민중들이 80년 광주의 시민들처럼 고립되는 상황을 맞지 않도록 적극 연대할 것이다.

People's Disobedience Movement in Myanmar against the Military Coup

In Myanmar, trade unions have been on strike and people's disobedience movement has been broadening and intensifying for more than a month since 미얀마 노동자 민중들의 군부 쿠데타 불복종 운동을 지지합니다.
미얀마 군부는 무력진압을 중단하고, 즉각 물러나라!
미얀마 군부가 작년 11월 총선 결과를 부정하며 쿠데타를 일으켜 정권을 장악한 이후, 미얀마 노동조합의 총파업과 민중들의 불복종 운동이 한 달을 넘기고 있다.

People's Disobedience Movement in Myanmar against the Military Coup

In Myanmar, trade unions have been on strike and people's disobedience movement has been broadening and intensifying for more than a month since the military coup of February 1, 2021 which negated the results of the November 2020 elections. Right after the coup, medical doctors and care workers, public servants, workers in different industries, including rail, banking and manufacturing sectors, began disobedience movement against the coup and the Confederation of Trade Unions, Myanmar (CTUM) went on a general strike.
In response, the military junta mobilized the police and the army to prevent workers from joining the general strike and arrest trade union officers. It made a search for manhunt in workers' homes and dormitories in industrial complexes. As civil disobedience movement became widespread all over the country, the military junta escalated cruel suppression, using tear gas, rubber bullets and live ammunition. Moreover, it dismissed those public servants who joined disobedience movement and arrested and held in custody protest participants. Due to the brutal crackdown by the military junta, dozens of people have lost their lives and thousands of people have been detained.
The Korean Union of Public Sector Research and Professional Workers (KUPRP), representing about 14,000 workers in public research institutes and agencies in Korea, stands in solidarity with and fully supports the CTUM, which issued a statement that demanded the full recognition of the results of the November 2020 elections and strongly opposed any attempt to disobey people's clear will as revealed through the elections.
The KUPRP raises "three fingers" to show its full solidarity with brave people in Myanmar who are joining disobedience movement with name, phone number and blood type in their arms.
Gwangju democratic uprising of May 1980 and workers' defiant rise and great struggles in 1987 have been critical watersheds in recent history of Korea and are still fresh in our living memory. These historic experiences have made Korean people firmly believe that no military and coercive forces can defeat people's cravings for democracy and justice. In line with the global trade union movement and international community, KUPRP will stand in firm solidarity with people in Myanmar for democracy and justice.
