'어린이청와대' 홈페이지에 '리지(Lyzzy)'라는 어린이가 올린 'Dear Mr. President'라는 제목의 글이 화제가 되고 있다.

17일 '어린이청와대' 홈페이지의 '주제가 있는 글쓰기' 게시판에는 '리지'라는 한국교포의 자녀의 글이 올라왔다. 이 게시판에는 하루에도 수십 명의 어린이들이 글을 올리고 있다.

'친애하는 대통령에게'라는 제목으로 올라온 '리지' 소녀의 글에는 이 대통령을 향한 사뭇 진지한 충고가 들어 있어 주목을 받고 있다.

"미국에서 안부를 묻습니다"로 시작한 '리지'의 글은 "제 제안을 읽고 부디 신중하게 받아들여주시기 바랍니다"라고 덧붙여 예의를 잃지 않으면서도 간절함이 배어있다.

이어 "대통령이 되기 위해 유세를 할 초기에, 연설을 통해 전 재산을 모든 사람을 위해 내놓겠다고 하셨습니다"라며 "그런데 아직까지 그렇게 하지 않고 있습니다"고 지적하고 있다. 또 그는 지키지 않을 연설은 하는 게 아니라며 꼬집고 있다.

어린이가 썼다고는 믿을 수 없을 정도의 진지함이 편지에는 들어있다. 약속 불이행은 물론 민주주의에 대하여도 말하고 있다. 그는 "다음으로 한국 시민들을 어떻게 대하고 있는지에 대해 논하고 싶습니다"라며 "저는 시민들이 비폭력적으로 저항할 권리가 있음을 알고 있습니다"고 쓰고 있다.

민주주의의 근본을 건드린 그는 다시 '소통'의 문제로 눈을 돌린다. "시민들의 불만을 없애기 위해 대통령은 시민들과 평화롭게 이야기를 나눠야 합니다"라며, 시민들이 촛불시위를 하고, 연설을 하고, 행진하고, 다른 많은 것들을 하고 있음을 예로 들었다.

편지의 뒷부분에서는 '대통령 탄핵'을 거론하기도 한다. 그러나 자신은 '대통령 탄핵'에는 찬성하지 않을 거라는 의견도 피력한다. "만일 지금 당장 바꾸지 않는다면, 미래의 대한민국은 공산주의 사회처럼 될 것입니다"라는 주장에 이르러서는 사뭇 진지하다.

그는 "이 편지를 읽음으로 희망을 얻게 되길 간절히 원합니다"라며, "저는 당신이 고칠 수 있다는 것을 압니다"라고 써 희망을 안고 글을 맺고 있다.

다른 글들에는 거의 없는 댓글도 18일 8시 현재 17개나 달려 있어 이 글에 대한 관심도를 보여주고 있다.

'리지'가 올린 글 전문

Dear President Yi, Hi and greetings from the U.S.! I want you to read my suggestions and carefully think about what you should do. Please take my suggestions and comments carefully as you read this letter. In the beginning when you were running for president, you stated in your speech that you would put out all your money. So far you have not done that and no one has seen or heard of that action being done. Normally if you were to do that honestly, then there would at least have been 700 rumors going across Korea or maybe even farther. When you write and read your speech you are not supposed write things that will make you president, you should write things that you can keep promises to! Things that you will do for the citizens. Not phrases that will make you president. Consider this very carefully please. The next thing that I would like to discuss with you is on how you have been treating the citizens of Korea. First of all, I KNOW that citizens have the right to protest in a non violent manner. So far, the citizens have not done anything that is violet. They have done candle light demonstrations, speeches, marches, and much more. They are not doing this to kill you they are only doing this because you have not gone up to them and talked to them about their opinions. If you would have done this earlier, people wouldn't have gone in so strongly with their rights! As president you MUST talk to the citizens and see what they want and think that should be done. If you don't agree with them then you can also share your opinion with them and talk about it peacefully. That way people don't have to get hurt, die, and bleed on the streets from the beatings from the police. Why have you made the police team do this? It is NOT right! You yourself are going against the citizen's rights!!! Which is VERY UNFAIR!!! I really do hope you get a chance to read this letter. I'm thinking that you are wondering if I am going to say that you should be impeached or not. Well, I have to say yes because of the way that you have treated the citizens dissapoints me. You have not been acting like a president and have not carried out any presidential duties the right way. Still, I promise to say that if you can fix the way that you are acting now, I PROMISE that I will change my answer into a no that you should not be impeached. Normally, people look up to presidents very much. You, not so much. If you are not going to fix this then right now and in the future Korea will act like a Communist country. Which is terrible! I know you can fix this.
